West Hollywood house with roof drainage causing ponding

Posted on May 13, 2018 by Jeremy Livermore, S.E., P.E.

This West Hollywood house had sediment deposits near the Scupper. Overtime water accumulated debris caused additional roof joist deflection allowing more water and debris to accumulate. This process was iterative. We advised the client to avoid ponding trade-in flexural failure of the roof rafters by cleaning out the settlement and hiring a roofer to ensure the slope was properly maintained.

Thanks,
