To whom it may concern,
Our scope of work was to perform a visual observation of the roof wood beam to assess the structural integrity. We performed our observation on May 4th, 2019.
The beam in question is supporting the roof with a tributary width of approximately 15ft. the beam is 7inch wide x 15inch deep. It spans approximately 27ft. The flexural member is a solid sawn timber ( > 6inches in width; cut from an actual tree). The beam was painted black and received roof joists attached with Simpson Strong-tie hangers.
Structural Observations of Suspected Structural Deficiencies
The observations listed below are suspected structural deficiencies related to the structural integrity of the house. Relevant photos are provided. More photos are available upon request.
- The wood roof beam exhibits cracks along 1 face as shown below.
